What BusinessVenoBot is, what it reads, and how to stop it visiting your website.
What BusinessVenoBot is
BusinessVenoBot is the crawler of BusinessVeno, a service that shows businesses how AI search engines and Google describe them. It identifies itself with the user agent BusinessVenoBot/1.0 (+https://businessveno.com/bot).
Why it visits your website
A BusinessVeno customer added your website: either their own, or a competitor they want to follow. BusinessVenoBot reads a small number of public pages (such as the home page, services and prices) to audit the website or to notice when those pages change.
What it does and doesn't do
- It reads only public pages. It never logs in, fills in forms, solves CAPTCHAs or gets past a block.
- It respects robots.txt, including
Crawl-delay, and asks for at most one page a second. - It does not use your pages to train AI models.
- From competitors' pages it removes email addresses and phone numbers before anything is stored.
How to stop it
Add this to your website's robots.txt:
User-agent: BusinessVenoBot Disallow: /
Or write to support@businessveno.com with your website's address. We add it to our never-crawl list within a few days; from then on BusinessVenoBot doesn't visit it at all, and customers can no longer monitor it.
